Chidiebere Onyia, a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Port Harcourt, who was abducted last Tuesday has been released, police spokesman Nnamdi Omoni announced on Sunday.

Mr. Omoni who confirmed the development said Ms. Onyia’s abductors abandoned her and fled after much “pressure” from the police, allowing her to be fetched.

Ms. Onyia is currently receiving medical attention and will soon reunite with her family, the police said.

The NTA staff was kidnapped on Tuesday at about 8:00 p.m. while returning from work with her colleague, the Gazette reported.
